Thanks, weekend!!!
Its been a lovely weekend and thanksgiving. Its nice having lots to eats and families and friends around. After dinner with families, I went over to my friend's house for a thanksgiving get together. We all ate, played lots of music from Dbanj to Beyonce, goofed & danced around to Beyonce "Single ladies" song, and played board games including "twister". It was a fun holiday :D
Hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving for those in America. On the other hand, hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Purple Accent
After putting on hold my DIY project on making a cropped jacket out of a bomber one for a month (how sad), I managed to get time today buying soft-colored and tulle-themed brooches to top up the whole look.
This was last month's progress, before I added the brooches...
I did wear the uncompleted jacket a while ago, and lets just call that, the soft launch. Today, I proudly present you the end result hehehhehe...yay!!
I do feel that I need MORE brooches to make it even better...:)

Celebrating HER
One December 07 morning--gosh!, does she love fashion!!!--she will always dress up--from her long necklaces to her chucky earrings like she has a place to go, but instead she will just sit on her bed and reread her stock folders. :)
The last presence with her--hours before my flight--Jan, 08.
Its been 10months since she left, but it still feels like yesterday. It is hard to look at her pictures sometimes; but when I look at these pictures, it just reminds me of the last fun days with her. The pictures were taken last December 2007 and early January 2008.
One of the most difficult day was getting the call on one morning in late Feburary from Nigeria that she has passed away. I still couldn't believe it because I couldn't believe this person I love and just spoke to couple days ago is no longer with us. I remember talking to her two days before she passed, she sensed I was tearing up and she pleaded that I should stop crying and that everything is in control. She continued by saying, "God is in control, keep doing the good things that you have always done". At the end of the conversation, I remember telling her, "I love you" about twice because the phone signal wasn't that clear, and she responded despite the effect of the medication she had and how sleepy she was, she whispered back, "you know I love you". This last words just forever rings in my ears when I think about her.
I am not going to lie, I still can't write or talk about her without a box of kleenex beside me. Even the thought of visiting Nigeria this Decemember knowing that the main person I go there to see, will not be there or the fact of coming across some of the items she wanted me to get for her this xmas, but I can't get it anymore, its a bit sad.
Well, there is not much I can do but celebrate her. She has been such great inspiration to me. I remember as a little kid, I will write letters to her; but when I come to visit her, she will sit beside me and help correct my punctuation or spellings. She was a woman that stood for eduation. She was so proud when I set her pictures of my graduation last year. :)
Today this beautiful lady, my lovely grandma, would have been 89 years old today, so I am celebration this phenomenal woman--Mrs. Susanna Dillibe.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMA!! :)

Meet HER
Hello lovely, Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!!! I had a cold and relaxing weekend--could it get any colder than last weekend??? My weekend was just chill; I didn't do much apart from getting my nails done and enjoying some mommy's warm meals. :)
Here are some long overdue questions asked by my lovely readers. Please forgive me for the lateness ;-)
1. What's your favorite color and do you like to dress colorful?
Since I was young, my favorite color has been pink; but with that said, my colors tend to change from month to month or season to season. Right now, I am so into the colors black and grey. I love to dress colorful, but that depends on the mood of my day. I always try to add a pop of color to most of my outfits even if I am wearing all black.
2. What places do I shop? I love to shop anywhere, I can be walking around the mall, but the content in each store is what attracts me. For instance, I have never shopped at “The Limited” until I passed by one day and saw this wonderful clutch that I couldn’t resist. Back to the question, the places I love to shop are forever 21, H&M, American apparel, urban outfitters, Aldo, Nordstrom, thrift stores, target, and other forgotten names…the list goes on.
3. Is fashion something you've always loved or is it something you've grown into?
I have always loved fashion since I can ever remember. I remember at 3 years old, I loved wearing my mom’s red heels and red lipstick—I was so obsessed with her red lipstick that I will always want to wear her lipstick to any birthday party that I got invited to. There is not much that makes me happy as much as fashion does—it’s my drug of choice :D!
4. Who or what, if anything, inspire the way you dress?
The way I dress is inspired by lots of things including art, magazines, runways, Kate Moss, Emmauelle Alt, Audrey Hepburn, Olsens, street styles, old movies like “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, “ Sound of Music”…, other bloggers. Other times, I wake up with this idea in my head of how I want to dress for that today--sometimes I might not even have that outfit in my closet at the moment.
5. How do you decide what to wear each day?
When it comes to dressing, I follow my feelings and just get dressed as I go. For me, it’s not necessarily about trends or even interpreting runway looks or copying exact inspired looks; I go with my feelings or emotions and I don’t necessarily plan, unless, perhaps, it’s a special occasion where I have to travel without all my closet.
6. Where do you find your hats? And what makes you excited about the fashion most? I find most of my hats from forever21: cute and affordable. ;-) What makes me excited about fashion the most is the creativity of the clothes.
***THANKS to those who asked such wonderful questions. If you still have any or more questions for me, please fill free to ask--this time, I promise it will NOT be late :-D
Have a wonderful week especially slow mondays!!!!
xoxo
